Emily Would Have Loved This

A family legacy film

Some people leave behind more than memories. They leave behind a way of seeing the world, a collection of stories, and a feeling that remains long after they are gone.

Emily’s story is a portrait of a life remembered through the people who loved her — the moments they shared, the things that made her laugh, and the memories that continue to bring her into the room.

Behind the Story

Every story begins with a reason to remember.

Emily’s story began with a desire to hold onto the memories that made her who she was.

Through conversations with the people closest to her, we began to discover the small details that often tell us the most about a person — the stories they told, the places they loved, the things they cared about and the moments that their family still carries with them.

We didn’t want to create simply a film about Emily. We wanted to create something that felt like spending time with her again.

“I am absolutely astounded by the beauty of it. You’ve just made such a beautiful memory of Emily, and I can’t wait to share it with the people I love.”

Reflection

A life is made up of thousands of moments. Most of them seem ordinary while we are living them. It is only later that we realise how precious they were.

Making Emily’s story reminded us that preserving a life does not always mean documenting the biggest moments. Sometimes it means remembering the sound of someone’s laugh, the way they spoke about the people they loved, or a story they told so often that everyone in the family knew it by heart.

These are the details that make a person feel present. And perhaps that is what we are really trying to preserve.

Every story reminds us of someone we love.

Perhaps there is someone whose story deserves to be remembered.
